when the sun makes her appearance after
a long, dreary spring, the pacific northwest seemingly comes
alive. i love walking outside -- the hustle and
bustle of people and pets (especially all the dogs!), the
flowers are in bloom, and of course, the variety
of outdoor markets, concerts, festivals, and other events
are sure to keep me busy!
my summer calendar is quickly filling up
(is this the case for you, too?).
some friends and i are headed to lake chelan for
the fourth of july. i am also eager to visit my
family's cabin, north of the city, in the coming weeks.
weekends in the summertime are spent soaking up sun,
catching up on sleep, and enjoying the many local activities
our city has to offer!
disclosure: ideal of sweden graciously gifted me the iphone 7
protective case i am using in these photos!
^^^ these photos were taken behind pike place market! ^^^
the iconic pike place market, located
in the heart of downtown seattle, is in the process of
completing a "market front" renovation / addition!
this project will provide space for new farmers, craftspeople,
and artisans to feature their product. there is also
new retail / restaurant space, a large parking structure,
low-income housing, and a neighborhood center. this
project has been in the works for 40+ years; i am
excited to see how it all comes together!
also on my summer to-do list?
the seattle street food festival july 15 and 16 on
south lake union; several outdoor concerts, including
rick springfield and pat benatar on august 16 at the
woodland park zoo; attending a shakespeare in the park
performance during the months of july
and august; and of course, exploring new restaurants
with ample outdoor patio space (tacos, pizza,
ice coffee, and margaritas are calling me!).
additional summer requirements?
cute (and comfortable!) sandals! i picked up
this adorable bow pair at my local target (they're
on sale now, too!). they are perfect for walking
long distances and go well with pants, shorts,
and dresses.
when attending outdoor concerts and
festivals, i prefer to dress more casually. depending
on the occasion, a great deal of walking
may be required, and seating could be limited to
the grass, a curb, park bench, etc. jeans are practical
and can be dressed up or down. i love this
raw hem (two-toned) pair. they are on-trend, feminine,
and incredibly comfortable!
even in the summertime, i make
sure to dress in layers. a sweater or jacket
is always kept on hand, as i am perpetually cold!
i chose a crossbody bag for an afternoon
in the city -- this keeps my hands free for cups
of coffee, ice cream cones, and other market-fresh
treats (priorities, right?).
