double duty

i am so good at having my picture taken... :)
shirt: f21, denim jacket: nordstrom, jeans: j brand, flats: thrifted, purse: pacsun

i am on double baby duty today.
the munchkins are nine months and five months.
aka we are busy, busy, busy!
we have already had six diaper changes, three bottles + some baby food,
one bath, and two brief naps.
oh and TONS of puke.
yum!
but also lots of giggles, hugs, silly faces, and baby-talk.
hope you are having an equally fun day!
xoxo.

school's out

life after college is hard.
it is terrifying,
lonely,
disappointing
but amazing at times, too.
you can read more about my last night in college here
from my column "school's out."

lusting after... salmon...

...the color "salmon" :)
i really, really need these little j crew flats!

what color are you currently craving?
i think you know mine!

little brother,

sadly, i did not get any photos with my brother,
as he was with "his posse" for the majority of the party.
who can blame him?
but i did get to hang out with this little muffin!
love, love, love her!
and we both love our stripes.

nick,
i am so very excited for you to begin this next phase of your life.
i wish you the best of luck,
but honestly - you don't need luck.
you will be successful all on our own in whatever it is you decide to do.
promise to call me (on occasion) and update me on our life!
after all, i am still your big sister and love you dearly
(even if you think that is awkward//weird).
xoxo,
megan

la di da, la di da

dress: banana republic outlet, shoes: kohl's
could i squint a bit more, please?
"baby it's like we're walking
on a wire through the fear
take my hand, we'll get there"
--sooner or later (mat kearney)

"somewhere between that setting sun
i'm on fire and born to run
you looked at me and i was done
well, we're just getting started"
--springsteen (eric church)

"it's gonna take a lot to take me away from you
there's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do"

thanks to you i'm not the broken hearted
thanks to you i'm finally thinking 'about me"
--stronger (kelly clarkson)

it's time...

alright, megan.
it is time to get real.
you have a problem,
and are on shopping restriction.
no more shopping...
...until
well, until your bank account recovers.

okay, okay.
no more shopping for this girl.
or eating out.
or wasting money.

oh and to the man who gave me a parking ticket at 24-hour fitness,
thanks a lot.
i would love to pay you fifty dollars...
...not
as soon as i decide to stop being lazy (and actually go to the gym),
i am cancelling my membership.
sincerely,
megan.

mother's day

i got to work this morning and was presented with a mother's day card
 from my favorite munchkin.
she is adorable!
never mind that mother's day was a few weeks ago,
and that i am not technically a mother.
it is the thought that counts :)
and she said i am "like a mom when i am with" her.
did i tell you how much i love her?

she must like//love me, too because when i hit my hand on the corner of the counter,
and walked into the living room saying "ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch,"
she asked me what happened and kissed my wound.
how am i ever going to get a real job when i spend my days like this?!
...guess that won't be happening anytime { real } soon.
xoxo.

her blog, my latest obsession, is absolutely adorable!
i love her outfits, crafts//diy's, and little family.

my tiny obsession

this spring has already been consumed by festive occasions -
easter, mother's day,
and this weekend is my brother's high school graduation party.
then there is his actual graduation,
and all of the other gatherings that accompany it.
thus,
i think i might need a few spring "essentials" - right?
one of my favorite places to shop for cute dresses and tops is kohl's.
my favorite brand? lc lauren conrad.
her line is affordable and adorable!
a few items i am currently lusting after...
i want everything :)
...if only my budget was not non-existent.
i will be digging through my current stash to find something.

true life: my dating experience

i think i have alluded to my (primarily non-existent) dating life...
i went through quite the breakup a few months ago,
but feel ready to move on and share my story.
maybe it is too honest and too much information (to be written about here),
but i think sharing bits and pieces of my life,
and writing down my thoughts and emotions helps me cope.
if interested, you can read my story here.

also, if you are a fan of la family magazine,
and would like to write an article detailing your post-college experiences,
feel free to comment here or email me.
i will happily pass along your information to the editor.
he is always looking for new writers,
and i would love to read your story!

xoxo.

the highlights:

(not hair highlights - goodness knows i cannot afford that)
however, i thought i would share with you this week's highlights :)
...after too much food one day,
"megan, we have apple trees in our bellies.
i'm going to ask mom to get us some apple tree medicine."

...the following day,
"megan, i need a nanny that doesn't have an apple tree in her belly."
(perhaps my shirt was too snug on that particular day?)
...after telling her i was going on a date,
"how was your date with the man?"
(i felt as though i was with one of the girlfriends,
and not my favorite three-year-old.)
this week went by in a blur.
i am quite glad it is over and ready for the weekend to commence!
(as you can see, this week was immensely productive... or not.
it was fun, however!)

have a wonderful weekend, and i will see you tomorrow!
xoxo.

a little perspective

i feel like i have complained non-stop recently on this blog,
as well as in my recent articles.
i promise that i am not normally this negative.
in fact, i am very happy with my life right now.
i am surrounded by good friends and family (as well as my blogger friends).
i have a job - one in which i spend my days with the most amazing babies.
i have plenty of food (though frozen), and a safe apartment to come home to.
life is okay.
sometimes i need to take a step back
to realize that things are not so bad :)

my mom emailed this video to me today.
i hope it brightens your day, as it did mine.
(warning: having tissues on hand is imperative)

to those who love green lake...

shirt: lucky brand, shorts: gap, shoes: nordstrom, bracelets: random assortment

as the weather warms up,
i love spending time at green lake in seattle.
whether i am walking one of the babies,
meeting the girlfriends,
getting coffee or frozen yogurt,
it is always a good time :)
however, with the increasingly warm weather,
comes new folk and interesting encounters...
ahem...

-- the man who bikes with his cat wrapped around his neck... seriously...
--the gnats! they are everywhere. make sure to keep your eyes and mouth closed.
-- the rollerblading crew. they are fast/vicious- especially around small dogs.
-- zoe's yogurt? absolutely addicting.
-- if you are with a certain three-year-old of mine, you will be told which side of the path you can and cannot walk on. thank you!
-- parking? non-existent.
-- cats... in strollers...
-- children on leashes? prevalent.

surely as the spring and summer progress, the interesting encounters will continue :)

keep those neurotransmitters firing

happy monday!
dress: target, vest: nordstrom, flip flops: havaianas
thank you, thank you, thank you
to those of you who have been following my recently published articles for lafamily magazine.
i found out over the weekend that i will be writing for them on a weekly basis :)
i could not be more excited!
after graduating,
i felt as though my brain was turning to mush.
office work and taking care of small babies is not exactly mentally stimulating
(though immensely trying at times!).
having the opportunity to write for a reputable online publication
makes me feel as though i am putting that hard-earned college degree to use,
and that those precious neurotransmitters in my brain will continue to fire.

you can read this weeks article on my attempt at living on a budget here.
let's be honest - it is hardly an attempt at budgeting, but rather a story of my epic failure at living a frugal lifestyle. eek!
xoxo.

a special day

dear mom,
it is true -
you can do anything!
i am so lucky to have someone as loving and supportive as you for my mom.
i hope your day was extra special
because you deserve it :)
love,
megan.
bailey is especially excited for mother's day!
...n is thrilled, too!
loving the sunshine :)

hope all the mama's out there had an amazing day!
xoxo.

diy fringe vest

i am always looking for a new little craft project.
i have an slight obsession with using old t-shirts...
i saw this diy over on one of my favorite blogs, my latest obsession.
you should check it out,
as she has the most adorable outfits, craft projects, and little family!

here is my attempt at the diy t-shirt fringe vest:
grab an old t-shirt and pair of scissors
(the shirt can be plain, or have an emblem)
begin by cutting off the hem
now, cut off the sleeves and collar of the shirt
next, make one cut up the front, center of the t-shirt
(be sure to only cut the front)
flip shirt over in order to begin cutting fringe strips
make 1-1 1/2 inch cuts to the desired length
(my vest has long fringe, but yours can be as long or short as you like)
lastly, pull on strips to get them to curl

(i had to make a few adjustments to the front of the vest as well...
i wanted the vest to have thinner sleeves,
so i cut a v in the front)
the finished product!
i apologize for the poor photo quality,
but i am running late for work - eek!
xoxo.
