pattern play

print mixing is one of my favorite trends. if you're eager to pair your stripes,
leopard or polka dots, i've put together a few tips to ease any anxiety you
might have and keep you looking bold, yet fashionable!

if you're new to the print mixing game, an easy way to start is
with your accessories! for this outfit, i chose my blue crossbody bag,
but you can easily swap it out for stripes or a print.
leopard shoes, your polka dot clutch, or floral print flats are other fun
ways to incorporate an additional print into your outfit!

dress: nordstrom (old; similar here), sweater: nordstrom (similar here),
crossbody bag: fred meyer, flats: thrifted (via goodwill),
bracelets: urban outfitters & forever 21

mixing prints can be intimidating!
for this outfit, and to keep things from looking too 'over-the-top,'
i chose to stay within the same color family. the navy and white striped sweater
compliments my navy dress. you don't necessarily need to wear the same
color, but find colors that work well together, or a color that is consistent
throughout your pattern play.

size matters, so avoid large flowers and large polka dots.
rather, find a smaller print to pair with your bold floral skirt. finding this balance
will keep your look cohesive and harmonious!

stripes are your best friend. a striped blouse or top can be worn with
virtually anything. navy and white stripes are a favorite of mine.

dedication is the key! commit to your outfit
and have fun with what you're wearing.

are you a fan of print mixing? how do you keep things looking sophisticated?
let me know in the comments below!
xoxo.
