embracing the 70s trend

the 70s are back in full force both on and off the runway.
think style icons such as catherine deneuve, getty, and twiggy!
i love the fringe and lace detail (on tops, skirts and dresses!), cropped tops and
blouses, all things suede, and of course wide legged, super flared denim.
if you're not a boho-kind-of-girl, there are a few subtle ways you can
embrace the 70s trend.

the easiest way? flared denim!
when you think flare, think 'flattering.' flared pants make your legs look
long and lean. a wedge or platform shoe can enhance the illusion of this, while
adding a fun statement to your outfit. high waisted flares, such as the pair
i am wearing, highlight the smallest part of your body - your waist!
wear your high waisted flares with a cropped blouse, and you will look
and feel hippie chic! i am currently lusting after thesethese, and these.
other ways to replicate the 70s with items already in your closet?

1. pair denim on denim with a chambray top and your favorite jeans.
2. opt for bold prints and vibrant colors.
3. wear a blouse or dress with bell sleeves (or a bell sleeve romper like this).
4. platform shoes! wooden platforms are very 70s, and i especially
love this budget-friendly pair.
and lastly, 5. the jumpsuit. while i don't currently have a jumpsuit
in my closet, it's at the top of my spring wish list. pick up this denim
jumpsuit for less than $50!

and have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
