working in an office certainly has its perks. i love
grabbing coffee or lunch with coworkers, having consistent hours
(and a supportive boss!), and commuting to and from the
city each day. however, getting dressed in the morning
is sometimes a struggle... especially when the alarm goes off
at 5:04am. toooooooooooo early!
while i typically gravitate towards skirts and dresses
during the work week, there are days where all i want
is to throw on a comfortable pair of jeans.
unfortunately, blue denim is not office-appropriate, but i am trying
to find subtle ways to incorporate more casual-like workwear
into my wardrobe. introducing: black denim.
while i've had black jeans in my closet for some time now
(and my distressed black skinny jeans are worn
quite often on weekends), i was on the hunt for some
cropped or seemingly different black work bottoms.
these frayed jeans may or may not be pushing the limit
as to what is 'office appropriate,' but the comfort factor
(hello stretchy jeans!) couldn't keep me away.
they're a mid rise, which is perfect for tucking
in a blouse, light sweater or your favorite causal t-shirt.
i've been lusting after the current raw hem trend, and
these jeans are the perfect introductory piece. i might
take a pair of scissors to one or two pairs of jeans that i've
been meaning to get hemmed for ages!

clutch: nordstrom (similar here), flats: madewell,
bracelets: urban outfitters
to brighten up this look, i added my burgundy
velvet clutch and bronze ballet flats.
i can't wait to pair these black jeans with short sleeved
tops and blouses. though black, i think the cropped
style of these pants will transition well into spring.
unfortunately, there are rumors of the snow showers returning in seattle
this week, so i fear spring may still be a few weeks away!
how do you incorporate more casual pieces
during the work week? let me know in the comments!
xoxo.
