the perfect gingham tunic for spring

whether black, blue or a bold color, gingham is the perfect
spring pattern. it is seemingly everywhere, too -- on tops, dresses and
skirts; i have seen gingham and plaid on sneakers this year, too! i am
currently lusting after a ruffled, blue gingham blouse to pair
with white denim for a family event this weekend. as per
usual, when i find a print or particular style of clothing i love,
i cannot seem to get enough!
while gingham may have previously been considered
'country-wear' -- emblazoning men's flannel and work
shirts -- this spring, gingham is anything but 'country.'
instead, think feminine and chic! though trendy, this print
is both classic and versatile. it can be worn with denim, but
also with dressier pieces currently in your closet (dark denim,
pencil skirts, cardigans, etc.).

i styled my gingham tunic (the petite size was a bit
too short to wear sans tights or leggings) with a comfortable
chambray top, leggings, and casual sneakers for a saturday
afternoon spent drinking coffee, running errands and
enjoying a reprieve from the seattle rain.
though hidden by my chambray, i love the oversized-pockets
on this dress. i am notorious for purchasing skirts
and dresses with seemingly hidden pockets, yet they are a
welcome surprise! the tunic could also be styled by layering
the chambray or a light sweater or jacket over the top.
i recently wore a similar outfit to work with tights, a cardigan
and ballet flats. i was comfortable, yet office-appropriate.

i recently did a clothing swap with my friend and fellow blogger,
jenn from hello rigby. she will be styling this j.jill gingham tunic as well.
be sure to stop by her blog to see how she wore it!
xoxo.
