fall jacket style

as mentioned in my previous post, i am
eager to find new ways to stay warm (while also looking
chic); i am ready to retire my black down jacket,
but refuse to feel cold all the time.
calling cute fall and winter jackets : send them my way!
a few weekends ago, my girlfriends, jenn, from hello rigby
and ana luiza, from northwest blonde, and i took a daytrip
north of the city. we planned to stop by the pumpkin
patch for cute, fall-inspired photos. unfortunately,
the rest of seattle thought similarly, and the line to get
in was far too long. instead of waiting, we snuck into a
nearby field of sunflowers (one kept watch, while the others
posed and shot photos). it provided the perfect backdrop!
we had a great day exploring snohomish county
(complete with coffee, window shopping, lunch, and
numerous blog and instagram photo opportunities).
i packed a handful of outfits to wear and subsequently
take photos in. this camouflage jacket was at the
top of my list. paired with a basic striped t-shirt,
dark denim, and booties, i was warm and felt grungy,
yet chic in my jacket!

if you don't yet have a camouflage jacket
in your wardrobe, i highly recommend purchasing one.
it can be paired with just about anything
(think 'denim jacket' in terms of versatility). wear
it with dresses, jeans, over a tunic with leggings -
the options are seemingly endless!

t-shirt: old navy, jeans: american eagle,
purse: borrowed from my girl, ana luiza, sunnies: target,
jacket: american eagle (similar here), rings: forever 21,
boots: lucky brand (thrifted via value village)

adventures with fellow bloggers are
my favorite! i cannot wait for our next
trip. i have a few coffee and antique stores
on my 'must see' list.
do you have any recommendations?
where should we visit next?
xoxo.

a coffee date in the city

the perfect girlfriend date? tasty holiday drinks from starbucks,
window shopping, and a walk through the city!

i am collaborating again today with my dear friend, asa, of lace and pearls
asa and i are styling two looks from local boutique, lika love,
that would be perfect for the upcoming holidays!
i love how well the sweater dress fits asa, and my jacket is stylish, yet practical.
i think my favorite part of our outfits, however, is the jewelry!
the jewelry and accessories available at lika love are to die for!
after visiting the madison park location,
i wanted to bring home several necklaces, rings, hats and earrings.
i'm trying to practice self-restraint. must. not. shop. for. myself. until after christmas :)
^^^ isn't she the cutest?! ^^^

and now, for onto our outfits!

on megan

cozy sweaters from lika love here.
as a special treat, malika, founder and owner of lika love,
is offering a lovely scarf to one of my readers; a similar giveaway
is also being featured on asa's blog!
at this time, the giveaway is only available for US readers due to
shipping restrictions. thank you, and good luck!

windblown (& some bloopers)

^^^ sometimes it gets a tad bit windy over here in the pacific north west;
i was freezing while taking these pictures! ^^^

dress: swap with fellow (and beloved) blogger, lisa, from stilettos & diaper bags,
sweater: nordstrom, leggings: american apparel,
purse: steve madden, boots: target, hair pin: anthropologie

as a blogger and lover of fashion, i thoroughly enjoy reading
other fashion, beauty and lifestyle blogs;
my nightly routine is as follows: crawl into bed, apply face mask,
read blogs until eyes are no longer open, wash face, read more, fall asleep.

i stop daily at lisa's adorable blog, stilettos & diaper bags.
she shares outfits, offers style advice, provides recipes, and best of all,
stories of her two littles; lisa is both fashionista and mother.
i purchased my dress (pictured above, and originally from zara)
 from lisa's online closet here.
a dress, worn by my favorite blogger? yes, please!

swapping with bloggers is a great way to make connections,
share fashion advice, and best of all,
increase the size of your closet.

a few of my favorites!
lisa, i will definitely be back for more shopping.
xoxo.

liebster award

thank you, amy, from work play for nominating this little blog for the liebster award.
this award is passed from blogger to blogger;
each recipient poses a list of questions about how and why we began writing,
our interests, bloggers we admire, etc.
while nominating new bloggers.
the liebster award is a great means for discovering new blogs,
or learning more about your favorite writers.
below are the answers to the questions amy posed for me.
thank you again, amy!

1. how did you come up with your blog name?
my writing is a sort of 'what first comes to mind' / stream of consciousness / diary. i think the title, 'diary of this girl'  represents that.

2. what is something most people don't know about you?
i make giant messes; we are talking epically big messes. from my skin and face products in the bathroom, to my shoes, clothes, and important papers. then i will go on a cleaning rampage, toss everything out, and organize it all. the next day, it will be again be a disaster.

3. if you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would you go?
australia!

4. favorite food?
frozen peas and ice cream (not together, of course).

5. biggest fear?
birds, they terrify me.

6. if you could pick, what decade would you have grown up in?
the 70s. i want to be a hippie!

7. your favorite possession?
nothing sentimental comes to mind, so perhaps my vintage cowboy boots (is that ridiculous?). i purchased them at crossroads trading company for $18 and wear them constantly!

8. spring, summer, fall or winter?
SUMMER!

9. favorite life moment?
graduating from college. the graduation ceremony was mediocre, but i remember celebrating at dinner with my parents and extended family the night prior. i could tell how proud my mom and dad were (i can still picture their faces!). my dad especially - it gives me goosebumps!

10. books you want to read in 2015?
'we were liars' by e. lockhart
'the girl on the train' by paula hawkins
'wild' by cheryl strayed
'orphan train' by christina baker kline

11. favorite store?
i cannot think of just one - maybe urban outfitters, crossroads trading company and nordstrom.

my nominations are and questions for them are…
kaitlyn & lisa from 'sisters marie'
alyson from 'crushing on clothes'
maggie from 'bone & arrow'
katie from 'for lauren & lauren'
rebecca from 'eastside fashion'
