holiday date ideas

the holiday season is such a busy time!
for the past week, i've been running around like a maniac;
trying to get from one store to the next, or to a particular brunch
or party or get-together, while fitting in appointments - and there's
always more i could be doing in my classroom.
it's easy to get bogged down with to-do lists, shopping
and other details. we lose sight of what the holidays are truly about:
spending time with the people who matter most!

as a way of staying connected, and out of the holiday shopping frenzy,
will and i are trying to dedicate more time to one another.
we're both incredibly busy, so it's not always realistic to set aside an entire day
together. however, we love taking time to do something here
and there, while cherishing the larger chunks of time we have together!

i've compiled a list of our favorite holiday traditions, as well
as other events and places we hope to visit this christmas season!

1) ride the carousal in westlake center, followed by hot chocolate (of course!).

2) attend wild lights at the woodland park zoo. admire the beautiful displays
of animal shaped lights. don't forget to visit santa and his reindeer, too!

3) stop by gingerbread lane at the sheraton hotel in seattle.
with the upcoming release of star wars, the theme of the houses is
'may the holidays be with you.'

4) enjoy the holiday music, such as 'home for the holidays'
by the seattle men's chorus at benaroya hall.

5) the holidays wouldn't be complete without a red and green sprinkle
donut from top pot. they're our favorite! or maybe my favorite.
willie doesn't usually object to donuts (thankfully!).

6) bundle up and take a walk together. admire the christmas
lights and other holiday displays!

7) love holiday movie classics? watch 'it's a wonderful life'
at the grand illusion cinema.

8) the annual christmas ships parade takes place in
december. you can sign up to ride onboard with the choir on lake washington,
or watch the decorated ships from afar!

9) the nutcracker is new this year! george balanchine
has created an incredible performance at mccaw hall. tickets can
be purchased from december 16-28th.

10) visit the festival of trees at the fairmont olympic hotel.
each tree has a unique theme and is beautifully decorated!
proceeds from the event are donated to the seattle children's autism
center and uncompensated care at seattle children's hospital.

11) enjoy snow showers inside the atrium of pacific place
while completing your holiday shopping! there
is also live music from 12:00-2:00 and 5:00-7:00 on weekends.

12) snuggle up, turn on the hallmark channel,
grab your popcorn and eggnog, and enjoy a christmas movie together!

happy holidays, everyone!
xoxo.

on friday evening, i had the great pleasure of attending one of seattle's
largest (and longest running) independent fashion shows' - fashion first!
the event, held in SODO, benefitted inspire youth project and
the crescent moon foundation. with the help of generous sponsors and guests,
$100,000 was raised to help children in our greater community.
that is incredible! i feel blessed to have been part of such a wonderful
(and successful) event. thank you, fashion first!

above are a few of my favorite looks from the event.
** all photos were taken by the talented, jami davis

and the best part? the last portion of the show was all about the 12s:
this is for you, fellow seahawk fans!
^^^ the above jerseys were donated to seattle art institute students (and fashionistas!)
and transformed into some incredible pieces!
they were auctioned off at the end of the evening ^^^

overall, it was an incredible event! i had a wonderful time
meeting and chatting with fellow bloggers and friends.
i wish i had taken more of my own photos, but enjoyed
borrowing these for blogging purposes. fashion first, thank you again!

seattle street food festival

^^^ wish this little sausage dog photo had come home with us! ^^^
^^^ the numerous jewelry booths in the craft portion of the festival were
incredible - i wanted so many things! ^^^
and now for the food!
^^^ chicken pad thai for our first course ^^^
^^^ i'm a sucker for thai iced tea and coffee! ^^^
^^^ course number two: ezell's chicken, fries & butter rolls;
the line here was huge! we must have waited at least
20 minutes to order, but it was completely worth it! ^^^
^^^ he doesn't love the lines ^^^
^^^ and last, but not least, ben & jerry's for dessert! ^^^

the seattle street food festival took place in our neighborhood
this weekend. the festival supports over 500 local micro and small
business and mobile business platforms!
it provides an opportunity for these businesses to come together
in our community and 'inspire, celebrate and serve as
a launching pad for the emerging culinary talents of the northwest.'
(ryan reiter, artistic director)

we thoroughly enjoyed exploring the various booths
and sampling a variety of different foods.
i wish i could have sampled more, but i think my stomach is
at capacity (although i am currently regretting not stopping
at one of the several donut booths. a midnight treat, right?).

the street food festival continues tomorrow from noon to 11pm -
you can still attend :)
some of the vendors include:
people of the chubbs
ben & jerry's
nosh
chick'n fix
wood shop bbq
thai-u-up
hot revolution donuts
hungry me
ezell's express
plus so many more!

we may go back for dinner tomorrow, see you there!?

prima studio and the bar method seattle event

this past week, i was invited to a unique blogger event -
prima studio partnered with the bar method in seattle
to showcase their gorgeous workout clothing line.
primo studio provides a stark contrast to my typical gym uniform:
torn, grungy college tee + nike shorts + mismatched socks.
designers heidi and catherine describe their line as
"flattering and fashionable while supporting high impact demands."

guests at the event had the opportunity to try on numerous clothing items, including leggings, tanks, tops, sports bras, etc. and observe a bar method class.
(let me tell you - i aspire to be fit enough to participate in one of these classes.
their toned bums, strength, and lean muscles made me a very jealous girl.)
two of the girlfriends came with me! (middle - k, right - a)
thank you for coming with me, girlfriends!

and a special thank you to the bar method and prima studio for inviting me to your event.
i would love to purchase the barre leggings as a bit of a motivator for my workouts...
i would wear them often everyday due to how soft they are
and their seemingly glamorous look :)
xoxo.

a night with wacoal

last night i had the pleasure of attending a special event
put on by wacoal for seattle bloggers.
it was a lovely evening with bras, shapewear, food, and wine, in addition to good company.
i brought my mom with me -
the perks of knowing a blogger...
just kidding :)
they had a number of different style bras - including contour, push-up, lace, and sports bras.
each of the bras had matching panties.
they also had several different styles of shapewear,
some of which will not be available in stores until the fall.
in addition to having delicious food, meeting fellow bloggers, and gazing at the lovely lingerie,
wacoal brought several bra fitters.
each guest had the opportunity to be measured;
i even received a bra of my choice!
finding a supportive bra that fits well, and matches one's taste can be difficult.
however, these kind and knowledgeable ladies made the process quick and fun!
this gorgeous purple was one of my favorites!
wacoal offers bras in nude, black, and numerous fashion colors
(as pictured above).
in 2009, they released a new line called "b. tempt'd by wacoal."
b. tempt'd is a contemporary line, with colors and styles directed towards a younger customer.
the fit is amazing, but has a slightly lower price point...
(great for girls on a budget, such as myself!).

wacoal, thank you again for inviting me to this special event.
...mom and i went to macy's afterwords to purchase some of the styles we tried and loved.

if you would like to try wacoal or b. tempt'd, you can visit their website here.
xoxo.
