picture update from san diego

hellooooo everyone! here are a few pictures from my trip thus far. the majority of the time has been spent watching tv and movies (he introduced me to the show flashpoint; i finally got him to watch bridesmaids), eating until we are beyond stuffed, enjoying the sunshine, drinking delicious iced tea, going for long bike rides, taking a nap a day, and dragging m on goofy and ridiculous adventures :)
...found this gem at the local good will
(umm why does my face look like that of a serial killer?)
potential figure skater costume?
so full from our spaghetti feast, and looking very sunburned!
mom sent me this :) isn't she adorable?!
hope everyone had a great weekend! more updates later. xoxo.

turning over a new leaf

i apologize for my rant below... i suppose that is fairly typical - get extremely worked up one moment, and back to normal the next. today is a very special day because:

1. it is friday. happy friday everyone!
2. in a few hours, i will be leaving to visit m!
3. my favorite coworker, c, brought me this:
yummy coffee and a treat
4. i wore the red jeans - i love them!
5. my mama is taking me to the airport tonight. fingers crossed she brings bailey in the car! i haven't seen that little wiener dog in almost two weeks!! (shame on me...)

have a great weekend everyone! i have a special guest post planned for you while i'm gone :)

parking enforcement, I HATE YOU

dear parking enforcement at 24-hour fitness, I HATE YOU. i come to your stupid and inadequate gym almost every day. there is never enough parking, i rarely get a machine other than a recliner (aka sitting bike) unless i come after 9pm, it is way too hot inside, and the membership fee is outrageous. to top it off, YOU GIVE ME A PARKING TICKET?!? seriously? thank you for ruining my perfectly good friday. i am glad i will be forced to give you $43 from my san diego spending $$$. i would also like to mention that having 5 stalls that are 2 hour parking, and 12 stalls that are 30 minute parking is utterly insufficient, especially for the only local, large gym. who goes to the gym for under 30 minutes?! (well, i did yesterday as a matter of fact because i had horrid stomach pains.) but to answer my question, NO ONE. i refuse to pay you more money out of my already limited budget. oh, and i think i will switch gyms. sincerely, megan.

date night with e!

my plans for last night were to do the epic amount of laundry i currently have, go to the gym, pack, catch up on a few shows, and go to sleep early... that did not happen :) instead, i called e and told her she had to come with me to find red jeans.

conversation with m:
me: "babe, have i told you what i want more than anything in the world?!?!"
m: "no..."
me: "red jeans!!!!!!!!!!!!"
m: "mowg, i have never in my life heard you mention red jeans. you're supposed to be saving money."
me: "i got them for $10 off! and i cut my leg on the tag while trying them on because i was so excited... karma/punishment for buying them."

i don't yet have a picture of the jeans, or a picture of me wearing them (i plan to wear them tomorrow!), but if you, too are in desperate need of red jeans, here are the ones i purchased :)

i am getting ahead of myself. back to my date with e... we went to dsw because she was on the hunt for black flats for work. after trying on 83102803081238018230 pairs, she finally found a winner!
(some of) the aftermath
i forgot to take a picture of her selection, but she purchased beautiful me too black flats

after finding her shoes, we went to ae so i could purchase the aforementioned red jeans. they are magnificent!!!!! i cannot wait to share them with you. next, we feasted on frozen yogurt. thin mint fro-yo for both of us with oreos for e, and chocolate chips for me - delicious! and lastly, new makeup for e! it was so much fun watching the sales associate at nordstrom test all of the different colors and brands of makeup on e, with me standing there saying "oh that is gorgeous", "you need that!", and "e, you look stunning, your skin is absolutely radiant!" when the announcement came on that the store had closed, we had to walk all the way around the entire mall to e's car...
seriously?
she then drove me the 15 feet to my car. god bless her! our goal: do normal things while hanging out next time... paint our nails, watch tv, possibly do a facemask, bake, and SAVE $$$$$$$$$. xoxo.

a day in the life

i am sure you have noticed, but i am wholeheartedly in love with my dog, bailey! she is a nine year old miniature daschund. she is the most loving, friendly, happy, docile creature unless you enter her "territory" (territory = our house, backyard, front yard, and the park behind our house). then, she will bark incessantly, until you distract her with a toy or treat :)

here is what a day for her typically looks like:
"no, mom, i am not ready to wake up!"
(yes, she sleeps in bed and under the covers every night)
eat breakfast - check!
time for another nap in my blankie
my favorite toy right now - from tj maxx :)
"no more pictures please, i am trying to sleep"

this is essentially my life! wake up, eat, play, take a nap, bark, take another nap, beg someone to feed me, wait for the family to come home, eat dinner, go for a walk, beg for more food, eat a few treats, practice my tricks, and go back to sleep. <3 bailey.

here are a few pictures to make you laugh :)
faj, mom, and their baby, bailey!
they are ready for halloween
(supposedly bailey's hot dog suit fell off)
cute little weenie!!!!
(i found this online - sadly, it is not bailey)
coffee/fedex trip with my bff, d
god bless him for letting me take 812301908 pictures

i love this - very bright :)

dear m, thank you for using your magic/epic/phenomenal computer skills to fix my blog. i don't know what i would do without you! xoxo.

this week:

keeping my fingers crossed that this week goes by quickly because... on friday i am going to visit m in san diego! i think i am going to pack tonight after work - you never can be too prepared :) a few items that simply must come with me:
  • m's b-prize - i promise to take a picture of him upon receiving it so everyone can see
  • the people's liberation jeans i got at plato's closet for $12 when i sold half my closet last weekend :)
  • a new dress from http://shopruche.com/ (fingers crossed it comes on time)
  • my next book for book club: let the great world spin by colum mccann (i haven't started this yet, but k told me it is incredible!)
this week will be filled with work, babysitting m's cousin, more work, trying to squeeze in a workout or two, packing (!!!!!), and last but not least, a celebration for all of the camp erin volunteers. k and n, i cannot wait to see you!

can i please show you what i found while looking online at wiener dog costumes?

a wiener dog lamp!
m, if you were in search of the best christmas present of all time, here it is: http://www.slipperybrick.com/2007/06/wiener-dog-lamp/

godspeed monday-friday! xoxo.

quick change of plans...

well, i decided that i actually did want to bake something this weekend. i have been waiting to try peanut butter cookies with various types of candy on top (other than simply hershey's kisses). today, i used hershey's dark chocolate kisses and milk/white chocolate hugs, snickers, reese's, and milky way midnight candy pieces. i also frosted some of the cookies with vanilla frosting so i could use up the rest of my halloween sprinkles! i'm not sure how a frosted peanut butter cookie will taste...  i am going to bring them to work tomorrow, so i will keep you posted :)
my extras - i also subsituted all natural apple sauce for eggs
(i was out of eggs - whoops!)
the finished product!

have you made these before? what types of candy did you use? xoxo.

busy busy busy

somehow the weekend is already over (well, almost). remember i told you about my aspirations to nap, bake, and read? sadly, i didn't have time for any of those (fatigue, i will *try* to deal with you next weekend). here is what happened instead:

i hung out with m's cousin/my 8 year old bff. we decided to meander around target and purchased matching pajamas! we also bought m a magnificent b-prize (b-prize: a special treat, not necessarily for a specific occasion). then, we made a fort, ate too much ice cream, and lounged in our twin jammies :)
e, remember you almost got these? yes, you need them
i fully support you purchasing the dress-version
saturday went by far too quickly. i slept too late, met k for coffee, went to a bonfire/volunteered with her, rushed home, went to feed and let out the doggie i'm taking care of, raced back home, ate frozen yogurt for dinner, washed my hair 372793 times to get rid of the epic bonfire scent, and finally went to see the girlfriend's new house! all the racing, rushing, and lack of sleep must have severely damaged the planning/judgment aspect of my frontal lobe because this morning, I FORGOT MY KEYS TO THE BOUTIQUE. ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. my boss was not pleased. fortunately, a is coming to meet me after work. i think i will drag her to whole foods for a delicious and healthy dinner (i desperately need a healthy meal after how horribly i ate yesterday... "meals" = frozen waffles, s'mores, frozen yogurt, and a banana). and then we're going to our new favorite place - khols! we <3 LC's clothing line! xoxo.

happy friday!

is it just me, or has this been a loooooooong week? i am very ready and excited for the weekend. the girlfriends just moved into a new house, and i finally get to see it/celebrate with them :) the rest of the weekend will be filled with napping, possibly some baking, volunteering with k, purchasing my next book club book, and working at the boutique. this morning i decided to disregard the budget (just by a few dollars, i promise!), and get coffee on the way into work. it was absolutely perfect because i ran into a!!!! can i please show you how well dressed she is?! i aspire to put together outfits as effortlessly as she does:
(a - shirt: f21, jeans & necklace: nordstrom, watch: lulus.com, cognac over the knee boots - which you cannot see unfortunately - chinese laundry @ nordstrom;
m - shirt: ann taylor loft, jeans & neckalce: nordstrom, shoes: toms)

a is by far my most fashion-forward friend. you will likely see more of her outfits this weekend. happy friday everyone!

dear m,

in exactly eight days (+ a few hours), i will be in san diego with you! i can't even begin to tell you how excited i am. i hope you don't mind, but i have a few things in mind that we simply must do together:
  • eat LOTS of frozen yogurt
  • ride bikes along the boardwalk
  • catch up on season 4 of fringe
  • go to old town for the best mexican food of all time
  • find magnificent (and perhaps matching) halloweeeeeeeeeen costumes
here are some pictures to remind you of past visits :)
i cannot wait!!!!!!!!!! i love you!!
xoxo, mowgli.

picture post

introducing...
l's dog, bella! isn't she stunning?? unfortunately, her and bailey do not get along... bailey is timid, loyal, sweet, loving, etc. and bella is... just kidding. bella is amazing! l, please move back so i can see you both! as you are currently so far away, i decided to help you by finding the perfect halloween costume for your baby:
haha!

oh how things change

it's funny how growing up, moving out, and navigating your way through life as an adult changes your perspective on things. for example, i was in desperate need of purchasing real life essentials (paper towels, laundry detergent, toilet bowl cleaner, etc.); just a few months ago, "essentials" would have been a new dress to wear this weekend, a necklace and bracelets to match, and a giant coffee from starbucks on the way to work... sometimes i miss those days. however, i've discovered that some of the less exciting items have their perks! today, for example, i put on a new pair of socks that i purchased (my girlfriend, c, told me tj maxx is the best place for socks - she was absolutely right!). anyways, i was/am so excited about these socks. they are sans holes and actually match! oh how things change :) xoxo.

there's always tomorrow...

remember a few days ago when i said i was striving to be healthier? i have had one setback after another... today it involved chocolate covered raisins. let's just say, they won't be an issue tomorrow. (dear rite aid located next to work, do NOT let me enter the candy aisle anytime soon. sincerely, megan). i suppose there is always tomorrow. this time i am going to stick to it, i promise!

tonight was an extremely productive and exciting way to end monday. i saw my girlfriend, e, and we went on a shopping spree at our beloved target. e's first words upon entering: "we're going to need a cart".
we managed to fill the cart within mere minutes, and then put almost everything back (mom, if you're reading this, i promise almost all of it was put back...). however, we did purchase what we deemed "essentials". ahem...
i desperately wanted to purchase this stunning cow costume for bailey!
e (mom e, not girlfriend e), said she did not need it :(
e almost got these... it was a toss-up between the owls and pandas
saw this gem in the little girls' department and knew it was essential

last, but not least, i forced e to buy her very own bag of chocolate covered raisins. hopefully she does not feel the need to ingest the entire bag as i did. final verdict = a successful target trip! xoxo.

what to wear

last weekend i attended the most beautiful wedding! it took place at a small reception hall in snohomish. the weather was absolutely unheard of for seattle - warm AND sunny in october! here is a of my favorite things that took place:

1. i managed to lose my camera under the seat of loui (my car), but my faj took some pictures and emailed them to me!
2. i forced my brother, n, to take a picture with me, and he is actually smiling :)
3. i saw my best friend, c, and had an excuse to wear this new dress
(dress: bcbg, shoes: dsw, necklace: nordstrom)
4. we danced to a live country band
5. my faj sang karaoke to jimmy buffet - god bless him!
6. i caught the bouquet!!!!!!!!!! i told m, and i think he was scared...

have you been to a wedding recently? what did you wear? what was your favorite part?! xoxo.

haunted house

it's no secret that i've believed my apartment to be haunted since day one. the building is old and the residents older. my roommate, e, and i are by far the youngest here. i am also convinced that the former owner passed away in my current bedroom (morbid, i know). don't get me wrong - i love living here. it is perfectly located near all things wonderful: whole foods, green lake, nordstrom, target, and tj maxx. a dream come true! however, some things pertaining to the apartment are ridiculously creepy... mysterious stains, the ever present smell of pickles, etc. today's incident solidified my fear that my apartment building is indeed haunted.

exhibit a
exhibit b

now, i'm no forensic psychologist or crime scene investigator, but that is a substantial amount of blood, right? my camera conveniently decided to stop working, so these photos were taken courtesy of my phone. the second image is particularly dark due to a burnt out light in the hallway (mind you, this light has been out for over a month. thanks homeowners association!). anyways, there was a LOT more blood than what is seen here, and that doesn't look like blood from a cut... it is a much larger wound, and the blood trail extends all throughout the stairwell RIGHT NEXT TO MY APARTMENT. if this is the buildings idea of halloween decorating, i am officially scared.

book club

this week i attended my very first book club meeting! i have been wanting to join a book club since graduation 1) as a means of meeting new people, and 2) to prevent my brain from turning to mush. my dreams of finding a book club to join came true upon meeting my new and incredible friend k while volunteering! she mentioned her love of books and book club, and i immediately asked to join :)

this month's book was the girl who fell from the sky. it is INCREDIBLE - such a unique story, yet sad (and sadly realistic?). i prepped by baking delicious peanut butter cookies with hershey's kisses. (confession: i strategically made peanut butter cookies to stick with my goal for a healthier lifestyle. however, i put dark chocolate kisses on top, which are my absolute favorite. although i didn't eat any cookies or the usual 810289 pounds of cookie dough, i consumed most of the leftover kisses.) thus, eating healthy = fail; book club = major success!

picture post

as this is a relatively new blog, i have decided to implement "picture posts" so you can see how ridiculous i am, how amazing my friends are, and what a magnificent puppy i have :)

can we go back here? to all of us living in the same place - okaythanksloveyou.
at a's birthday - best friends for 9 years
yep, i'm ready to see him again!!!
mom, feed me!
ugh i want this for lunch...
more pictures to come! xoxo.

thank goodness for hump day

this week has been insane. it's hard to believe that it's only wednesday, but thank goodness we have reached hump day! i think i started off the week on a bad note...

first, i was accosted by an angry roller-blading man at green lake this past weekend. while attempting to "run" (aka jog at an extremely slow pace), i was pushed and then shoved off the trail by said roller-blader. he was going much to fast, and since it wasn't raining, and it was a saturday, green lake was absolutely packed with families, runners, strollers, dogs, etc. i was continuing the slow jog and was absolutely thrilled to be almost back to my car when the evil, too fast roller-blading man plowed into me. he scolded me for running on the wrong side of the path after shoving me. WHAT THE HECK?! did he not see how crowded the lake was? had i tried to run on the other side, i would have literally run into 10 chatting people and their pets! evil, evil man. beware of him fellow green lake runners and walkers.

secondly, i have been having the absolute worst stomach pains! i blame it on my horrid eating habits... perhaps if i ate less junk, treats, carbs, fast food, etc., my stomach wouldn't punish me. new goal: eat better - less frozen food and cookies, and more fruits, veggies, etc. (oh, i am a vegetarian, so i must find new and healthier ways of getting protein, too). i made this goal on monday (when i was feeling especially ill), but fear i have already failed... last night i baked brownies AND peanut butter cookies. to my credit, the peanut butter cookies are technically for book club, which is tonight eeek! we are reading the girl who fell from the sky by heidi burrow - absolutely amazing. more to come on that. xoxo.

huuuuungry

well i guess my little daschund friend, bailey, was especially hungry (and brilliant as per usual) today. e (my mom) called to tell me what she saw upon coming home from work today:
  • plastic bag on carpet in entryway of house
  • no dog barking or jumping down from the bed upstairs to greet her
  • dog coming around the corner looking as though she has been up to something
thus, e walked around the house looking for what mischief the little dog had gotten into... (here is where her brilliance rings true). bailey had gone into the open pantry and found a doggie bone inside aforementioned plastic bag. when e found bailey, she (bailey) was attempting to put the bone back in the bag, yet managed to get the bag stuck on her nose/head. had e not discovered her quickly, who knows what could have happened...

hello blogging!

this is my very first post, on my very first blog :) i've been wanting to write a blog for ages. there are so many great blogs out there - many of which my friends and i stalk - i swear i could spend all day reading them... is that strange? i hope this little blog is as fun and entertaining for you to read as it has been for me to write! i fear it will often be extremely random and ridiculous, but still enjoyable. xoxo.
