colorful tights link up!

my bff d is not able to take my picture today,
so please excuse my sub-par photographing abilities.
...particularly, my half cut-off head...
did you wear your colorful tights (or denim) today?
if so, please link up below!

i am loving this bag-like dress today,
as c and i went to ihop for free pancakes last night!
of course i could not limit myself to pancakes,
but also ordered eggs and hash browns.
needless to say, a food baby followed.
dress: nordstrom rack, scarf: h&m, tights: target, shoes: vera for kohl's
plum tights for me today :)

Diary of This Girl

stripes, socks & pancakes

today is one of those days where you want to wear your pajamas all day...
...even while at work
i am fairly tired today as i was babysitting the sweetest little munchkin last night.
he was so cute that i decided to hold him the entire time.
let me tell you, holding a baby for several hours is quite the arm workout!
however, i will take that over going to the gym any day :)

back to the pajamas...
i wore my comfiest outfit today - which may or may not be comparable to pajamas...
shirt: gap, jeans, boots & bracelets: nordstrom, socks: target, necklace: nordstrom rack

also, i heard on the radio that today is national pancake day!
i bet you know what this girl will be having for dinner tonight...
delicious :)
xoxo.

frock stock love

one of my favorite means of shopping is via thrifting.
vintage blouses, skirts, and dresses are a few of my most sought after items this spring.
i am craving pastel colored clothing, cute prints, and colorful jewelry and accessories.
however, thrifting is not always usually, but not always a success.
it is frustrating to walk away empty handed,
as sifting through the numerous items requires patience.

however, i know i can always find vintage-inspired items on one of my favorite websites!
if you are not familiar with them,
you must take a peak!
their styles are adorable, and with affordable pricing,
it is near impossible not to walk away with something (online of course).

the following items are on my wishlist :)
{ no shopping during lent for me, so i will be waiting until april to buy }
(i had others, but soon realized i had almost the entire store in my "shopping bag" - whoops!)
be sure to check out their website, as they receive new merchandise often.
happy shopping!

*also, if you are a blogger, they have a special discount for you!

diary of a doggie

mom decided i needed a new coat.
i was not expecting this...
...a rain jacket, complete with a hood.
thank goodness it is sunny today
because i have no desire to wear this.
xoxo, bailey.

being more positive

i sometimes (okay, a lot of the time) have a hard time remembering to think positively.
i question myself.
i worry.
i wonder, "what if _____ happens?"
my goal for this week is to be more positive :)
i love this.
top: vera for kohl's, pants: lc for kohl's, flats: target, bracelet: f21

how do you remind yourself to think positively?
i am in need of inspiration :)
xoxo.

weekend in pictures

where did the weekend go?!
i wanted to share my weekend with you via pictures...
here you go!
c and i took an infant cpr class
notice her baby is missing an appendage...
i promise it is not a reflection of her babysitting capabilities!
then i went home, backed up bailey,
and went with the family to canada to see our cousins!
mom and i at our little cousin's hockey game.
he won!
and we froze!
this is the only picture i got of our cousin...
photo fail.
i did not get any of the rest of the family either :(
we had a great time with them however!
lots of delicious food, catching up, and story telling.
nothing like family time to get you ready for the week ahead.
how was your weekend?
it snowed a bit here!
winter, please go away.
xoxo, megan.

diy spaghetti + braided scarf

okay, okay, i know...
i need to get a hobby other than making scarves.
but i cannot stop because making scarves is such a quick, easy, inexpensive, and fun craft.
what isn't to like about that?!
after this scarf, i promise to move on to headbands... or something else :)

for this scarf, i wanted to combine my new love for the spaghetti infinity scarf
with a braided section.
this is the easiest t-shirt scarf you can make,
and will most likely take you 10-15 minutes!

to start, all you need is a t-shirt and pair of scissors.
no need to worry about making straight cuts as the pieces will be combined :)
(thank goodness because my cutting skills are comparable to that of a kindergartner)
step one:
cut your shirt from left to right in one inch strips;
aim to have nine total.
step two:
cut loops in half so you have nine long strands of t-shirt.
step three:
secure strips with one strand of the t-shirt
(see above)
allow enough space above the knot to later tie scarf together.
step four:
braid scarf to desired length.
you can have the scarf be half braided and half loose,
or whatever you decide looks best :)
i braided approximately one third of my scarf,
and left the rest loose.
step five:
secure the braid with one strand of the t-shirt.
stretch the non-braided strands that will remain loose so they begin to curl.
(this will hide any uneven cutting)
step six:
gather both ends of the scarf and tie.
i used part of the hem for this,
as i could not figure out how else to knot both ends.
the loose pieces above will go behind your neck.
the final product will look something like this.
i apologize as it probably took longer to read my tutorial
than it will take to physically make the scarf.
please let me know if you have questions,
or suggestions as to how better to secure both ends.
i love your feedback :)
happy crafting!
xoxo.

colorless

the theme of my outfit?
colorless.
while i cannot get enough of my colored jeans,
colored shoes,
brightly colored jewelry,
wearing grey and black is a nice change.
i also feel quite professional today :)
shirt & scarf: nordstrom, skirt: banana republic outlet, tights: kohl's, shoes: dsw
aside from these shoes (which were fifty dollars at dsw),
this outfit was very inexpensive!
i accidentally took my mom's nice black scarf,
leaving her with my cheap, tattered black one :)
scarf: free
tights: eight dollars
shirt: nine dollars
skirt: thirteen dollars
nothing like saving $$ :)
xoxo.

fur

this back and forth weather is driving my skin crazy.
it is sunny and relatively warm one day, and freezing the next.
the result? fur.
(fur = excessively dry, peeling skin that gives the illusion of having a furry face)
to combat the fur, i have been using the following products:

1. olay moisturizing cream (eight dollars at target)
2. elizabeth arden hydrating face mask (eight dollars at tj maxx)
3. johnson's body care 24 hour lotion (six dollars at target)
4. l'occitane hand cream (gift)

my favorite of the above items is the face mask.
i am a face mask addict.
i am always looking for a mask to cure whatever skin woe i suffer from,
and the hydrating mask does wonders.
do you have any skin secrets?
what are some of your favorite products?
xoxo.
